HUD reported that California had an estimated 161,548 individuals experiencing homelessness on any given day.
Of that total:
- 8,030 were families
- 11,401 were Veterans
- 12,172 were unaccompanied young adults (aged 18-24)
- 51,785 were individuals experiencing chronic homelessness
Public school data, as reported by the U.S. Department of Education during the 2018-2019 school year shows that: 271,528 public school students experienced homelessness over the course of that year.
Of that total:
- 7,633 were unaccompanied
- 11,021 were unsheltered
- 19,758 were in shelters
- 14,386 were in hotels/motels
- 226,363 were doubled up

We have over a QUARTER MILLION Homeless CHILDREN?? How is that even possible? If they are IN public school, that means they are already registered in many govt systems, so they should be the FIRST to get personalized help. The fact that the govt allocates resources to Counting them but not HELPING them is unspeakably horrific, incomprehensible, and unforgivable.
